SRS: Safe Release Support Program
Reuniting Children with Families: The Safe Release Support Program
Imagine a child who has endured unimaginable hardship, fleeing violence and trauma to find safety in a new country. The Safe Release Support Program (SRS) is dedicated to helping these children find their families and begin to heal.
SRS Mission: The SRS Program ensures that migrant children are protected, cared for, and given access to the services they need during the critical reunification process.
Building Trust and Support: We partner with local community sites that provide support and assistance to families during the initial reunification phases. This allows us to build trust and provide ongoing support as families navigate the challenges of long-term integration.
Safety First: SRS Sites perform background checks on potential guardians to ensure that children are reunited into safe and secure homes. In addition to conducting the required fingerprint background check, the SRS staff walk caregivers through the federal reunification process.
A Bridge to Hope: The initial meeting with Safe Release staff is often the first contact a family has with a service provider. We identify the family’s unique needs, such as legal counsel, food assistance, counseling, and medical care, and connect them with the resources they need to thrive.
